Is It Dying?

Symptoms :-

1. The frequency of posting is diminishing .
2. The archives have developed gaps of months , years in worse cases .
3. You are posting more you-tube videos than actual write-ups.
4. You post only photos as you are slothful to be able to express in 1000 words.
5. There is no craving for new posting ideas lurking around .
6. There is no urge to check comments.
7. You stop confessing on this diary , even when yours is a zero-comment-clandestine blog .
8. All effort is now spent on making it visually appealing than on writing.
9. Your quotes , poems prefer FB status messages and notes.
10. You suddenly forget password to the blog !!

If yours is a victim of above , it might be heading towards it’s grave where thousand other archives are lying in webbed peace .

Get up and rejuvenate! If it is your avocation ,there shall be reincarnation of some kind .
Of a kind which can prompt the readers to come up with “symptoms for addiction” .When feeds show numbers , with mostly nines.

PS1: Did you know , there is something called Drunk Posting. I have read one such and it was hilarious.Including the major typos, retained strategically.

Traveling pants

Is not about Sisterhood Of Traveling Pants.

If you know the author and have accompanied her to adventure trips to various locations in past two years , you know who, err... what is being referred here.

Else , let me take pleasure of introducing you to -Army green , cotton based , 6-pocket , cargo pants.

We all own one such in different shapes and sizes . Don't we ?

The one we pick up for damn every travel .
The one which is rugged and tough,
Yet gives all the comforts , in hazel.
The one which was in use for hours and days .
And still can be used for coming days and hours.

The one which has seen the mountains ,
Has crossed rivers with us.
The one which was dusted,
Was splashed in water with muds.

The one which transforms to 3- fourths ,
To safeguard its own tearing corners.
The one which shields the colds.
And takes all the sweat , when warmer .

And if you still wonder ?
Or must have forgotten it in a timeless thunder.
Look around , it must be lying somewhere,
Cluttered underneath your branded clothing blunder .

From the cupboard, it calls out in silence
"Take me out of this darkness"

"Take me to sunshine of the woods.
From the cupboard, it whispers out loud
"Take me out to the wilderness "

"Take me to the cloudy hill roofs".

The same pretty much holds good for our traveling backpacks , perhaps the traveling shoes .They all say one thing- take some time off from your chaotic schedules for mother nature, but don't over do it , as they might end up teared .

Google Is Not All That GOD , Actually

We swear by It , we thank , we reckon , we pray to it, we love it , we can’t survive without it ,we are addicted , it’s our best companion , on this our professions survive. It has answers to all the questions under this sky. But there are loopholes .
If you are expecting a comparative study of search engines with some blue links here ,then move on to next blog or carry on with FBing .
As this is more on humanity than on world wide web ‘s vanity.

Ok, if some of you managed till here , I hope to meet you in the end.heh don’t worry, a very short post , but as they say "60 seconds make a minute" .

Once upon a time there lived a boy named Tom …….hmm , I told poetic na? , why the hell am I constructing a story out of it ?Fine no more drama , read on.

All these years we used our tiny little human brains to store -persist- analyze -create data and now everything is click away.
For all our queries we often don’t know the answer, but we all know how and from whom to fetch it .
We don’t tend to remember ,we really don’t require remembrance !! cause there is someone storing it “ALL” for us .We only tend to buffer information for short duration and take pride in flaunting googled info.
The art of querying is nurtured more than the art of resolving and crafting .And in this era, in a galaxy of software crowd such studs are worshiped .
Those cool geeky dudes you often encounter ,whom you think “I know it all” are most of the times hollow shells with information overload .Most of them flash some buzz words and fancy links and feed it on sites.
They can no longer create , they plume click away found info. We all do the same at times don’t we.
Gone are the days when libraries were turned upside down for one research presentation in college . When stuff was more created than circulated. When teachers were guiding force .Good in a way that dependency has reduced and one needn’t run behind human sources and Knowledge is ample and is freely flowing all across but creativity is suffering and is curbed unknowingly . Memory loss is a common complaint now.

Just think. All we need to teach our children in future is How to Google - copy paste -social networking .These are the key words to success . Everything else pretty much will fall into place.
It will be their new mom n dad. Yeah from abc to job hunting , from colors to photography , from anatomy to child birth ,from relations to business, travel , java blah. It instructs you on all. And pretty much like parents it can control with child locks.

Yes , the author truly acclaims , applauds and also uses this revolution in her day to day life .And there is no denial of life without web. But there is a different angle to it . Cause an overdose of anything can kill u .A line has to be drawn somewhere such a way that only necessity is extracted. As.............

it teaches you dance not grace
it teaches you music not rhythms
it builds networks not relations

it teaches you coding not development
it teaches you technology not science
it teaches you skill not ability

it gives you facts not salvation
it gives history , not future
it’s a tool , not the solution

Hogenakkal Falls and The Hence Proved Story

Finally after a long time ( very long actually) weekend was consumed in a trip to Hogenakkal falls (one of the gravid falls on Kaveri after Shivasamudram)

Facts:Located 187 kms from Bangalore . Take Hosur road and hunt down for Salem and then Dharamapuri on sign boards.

• Remember to carry license and don’t exceed speed limit beyond 100 on outskirts of Dharamapuri .Vas , the one who is incapable of driving under 140 in terms of velocity was caught red handed and had to shell out 1000 bucks."Saaaar , please saaar , please saaar" *10 times saved him from paying another 500 .
• Else go in MiniY’s car for a safe ,bumpy-less - fine free ride.But it comes with "You must wear those seat belts through out ."
• Take somebody who knows a bit of Tamil or kannada for bargain related communication with Coracle walas.
• We as in 9 of us spent 1700 rs for two coracles, for 4-5 hours of cruising along the wild and rocky falls .
  For a centrifugal thrills make sure to ask the captain of the round (space)ship to rotate it.
• Taste the fresh delicacy of live marinated fish , alongside the banks only.
• Make sure to take proper footwear , nope !, not sport shoes .Floaters are recommended as you keep wetting your feet when toggling on the rocks .
• Witness the sight of a local kid diving from a 50 feet high rock .Do pay him 20 bucks :).
• Sit near the edges for sprinkling splash on face .
• Be extremely careful and get a firm grip when clicking photos and exploring. We almost For adrenalin rush touch all the atrocious edges in and around the falls .
• But control the enthusiasm , unless you want to be featured on “I shouldn’t be alive” series on Discovery.

Coming back to the Confessions.

1. I happily after receiving a call slipped my phone in ma pocket “hypothetically”. It in actually got slipped out of the pocket , without me realizing .

We went forward to our respective boats and only on half way downstream , I was alarmed by the absence of ma beloved.My pleading cries to take the boat back to said location made Sreek to give up the act .Luckily the hypothetical slip or fall was witness by the junta walking behind , who decided to see me in panic by revealing it later.

2.Coming back to confessions again . I once dropped my 5 k watch in front of my office gate , with a generous person walking behind and handing it over to me .

3.Heh.la la laa It’s not over yet .What triggered this post was today’s loss. I happily slipped ma office ID in exactly similar “hypothetically” way in ma purse only to realize next day , that it was dropped. And in huge MNC like mine , one cannot even have lunch without the access card.

As one is guarded by angels. A mail comes in ma inbox stating “hello, I found your card lying in the campus please come and collect”.

Remember the Boomerang Theory ? it never ceases to prove itself again and again.(TOUCH ANYTHING WOOD ON THIS PLANET.All you readers touch it now , ok fine pat your head instead).

PS1: Yeah, I have learned the lesson.

PS2: Don’t you dare to comment on my luck , I only know how badly it sucks otherwise.

PS3: The trip was awesome !!! and I simply loved it.

PS4: The tan was worst , and now I know I am kind of sensitive to prolonged exposure to sun. My skin is now shedding(hiss , hiss) and is in worse condition.

Only Words And Words Are All I Have

Where author pays tribute to the unsung Shayaras –(Women sher-o- shayari writers) of the past and explores technicality of Urdu poetry .

Teri nazm ,
Kisi kaagaz pe likhey lafzon mein ko gayi .

Teri Ghazal ,
Kisi badnaam mehfil ki ronak ho gayi.

Teri awaz ,
Ajj bhee veerano mein goonjati hai.

E shayara , teri rooh
Kisi jane shayar ki Ilhaam ho gayi.

So unknown and lost they are that when I Wikipediad Shayara , the result was:

This time Google also turned out to be chauvinist. Nope there isn’t’ much on web .
Amongst the Amir Khusros , Mirza Ghalibs , Mehedi Hassans ….. some names like Begum Akhtar, Farida khanum where linked majorly for their ghazal gayaki.I still remember a filling scene in a movie In custody 1993 , where Shabana Azmi is lamentable about her creations not being recognized , while the whole movie revolves around an ageing poet Nur Shahjehanabadi’s work preservation.
They very much existed .Apart from usual , every kothas originally meant for musical -mystic entertainment were also home for such phankars. Female artists including tavayafs were shayari composers .But with their name their voice , creations went confounded and lost.

One truly admires any poet’s work irrespective of the gender behind and nor am i a feminist. But something did provoke me. Even today people don’t take a female poet seriously .That whole kashish in reciting is much appreciated when coming from a man’s mouth . Is it just that people are not used to? Or people just don’t want to ?.

One of the reasons for rareness of Shayars apart from unrecognizable condition of women in Islam and in history, in general , on some digging down actually comes out from what ghazal is or was traditionally about.
Apparently , ghazal not only has a specific form, but traditionally deals with just one subject: Love. And not any kind of love, but specifically, an illicit and unattainable love hence is always written from the point of view of the unrequited lover. Since we all have grown with Devdas(s) continuum on broken heart saga, shayari suited more on them. As if there were no Meerabai(s)? yeah but all that dwelled bhazan’s. Sigh !
That is one of the theories though .
Able to compose a sher or poetry is an instinctive creative prowess, which is nurtured in a person irrespective of prejudice.
However things haven’t changed much .Name one famous female equivalence of Galib or even a budding writer?Yes , they existed and are still blooming in shadows. The art itself dying in this fast paced hip-hop world is another story altogether though.

Urdu poetry is not all about just rhyming words.
Sher is (Couplet). It consists of two lines (misra); first line is called 'misra-e-oola' and the second is called 'misra-e-sani’.
Ghazal is a collection of shers ( Ashaar).
Nazm is an Urdu poetic form that is normally written in rhymed verse.
